About this project
Het zichtvermogen is een van de grootste giften van het leven. Toch leven wereldwijd miljoenen mensen met staar (cataract) — een vertroebeling van de ooglens die tot blindheid leidt, terwijl de behandeling eenvoudig is.
Volgens de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie kampen ongeveer 20 miljoen mensen met staar, waarvan zo'n 12 miljoen in Afrika. Cataract is verantwoordelijk voor bijna een derde van alle slechtziendheid. Een korte, veilige operatie is vaak genoeg om iemand het zicht terug te geven — maar voor de allerarmsten is die operatie onbetaalbaar.
Door middel van het cataract-project schenk je wereldwijd aan het leven van miljoenen mensen een nieuw daglicht. Je kunt al helpen met een donatie vanaf €5. Donateurs die €75 of meer doneren, ontvangen persoonlijke foto's van de geholpen patiënt.
